Botulinum toxin

When is botox, or botulinum toxin injections, recommended?

Botulinum toxin (commonly referred to as Botox) is a medicinal product commonly used to eliminate wrinkles, treat excessive sweating, fight bruxism or relieve the patient from chronic migraines.
Thanks to botlin toxin injections, eyebrow correction is also performed.

If the patient wants to obtain a new, fresh look, the botulinum toxin treatment will be perfect. Botox treatment will help you get a positive facial expression, hide fatigue and stress.

Botulinum toxin injections also help in modeling the face or correcting eyebrows by weakening the strength of facial muscles.

What effects can be expected from botulinum toxin injections?

The action of Botox causes the inhibition of the production of acetylcholine responsible for transmitting signals between neurons.

As a consequence, there is a completely safe and reversible process of loss of muscle strength in the movement plate - the muscles stop excessively contracting, and the nerve endings do not send a neurotransmitter.

Botox therapy allows you to achieve optimal results when correcting eyebrows and treating various types of wrinkles, such as:

  • Crow's feet,
  • lion's wrinkle,
  • transverse forehead wrinkles,
  • smoker's lines,
  • rabbit wrinkles,
  • wrinkles under the eyes.

The therapy also has a salutary effect on getting rid of chronic troublesome migraines. This is due to the reduction of excessive muscle tension.

Botox is also effective in the case of trismus associated with excessive work of the masseter muscles.

Botulinum toxin therapy allows you to limit the work of sweat glands, which is why it is ideal for combating the problem of hyperhidrosis in the armpits, hands and feet.

Convalescence period after botulinum toxin treatment:

Botox treatment is safe and minimally invasive, therefore it does not require a special recovery period. Typically, the patient can return to normal activities immediately. You should refrain from drinking alcohol for 24 hours after Botox treatment.

Also, do not engage in a lot of physical activity.

It is advisable not to heat the injected area and not to use the sauna or solarium within 2 weeks from the date of botulinum toxin injections. It happens that there is a slight swelling, but it disappears after about 2 hours.
Very rarely, a bruise appears after Botox treatment. If it does, it usually disappears within a few days.

How long can the effects of the toxin be expected after the procedure?

New neuromuscular endings, inhibited in development as a result of the action of botulinum toxin, are formed within 4 to 12 months. Most often, patients enjoy the effect for about 4-6 months in the case of wrinkles, and in the case of hyperhidrosis treatment, the effect is up to 9 or even 12 months.

Contraindications to treatment with botulinum toxin:

Botulinum toxin treatments have a number of indications and are highly appreciated by doctors and patients. Unless the patient suffers from certain diseases or when the patient is not, for example, pregnant or breastfeeding, they are very safe.

Here is a list of these unfavorable periods that the patient is currently experiencing:
